5 Must Try Tailgating Wine Cocktails
It's time for some FOOTBALL! We are so happy fall is almost and the temps here in Austin are starting to cool off. If you're somewhere else in the country, you've had your own weather issues to deal with, so bring on the shorter days, cooler weather and football!
We love a good gathering and we love good wine, so of course, we needed to put together a list of our favorite tailgating wine cocktails.
WHITE WINE MOJITO
2 lime wedges
6 fresh mint leaves
1 teaspoon agave
1/2 cup chilled Profile One or Three if you like it a little sweeter.
1/4 cup chilled club soda
Combine the lime, mint, and agave in a glass and muddle gently with a spoon. Add the wine, club soda, and ice and stir.
MAPLE BOURBON SMASH
1/2 ounce pure maple syrup, preferably Grade A Dark Amber
1/2 ounce fresh orange juice
1/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
4 dashes of Angostura bitters
1/2 orange wheel
2 ounces bourbon
4 ounces Profile Three or a dry riesling or gewurztraminer
1 1/2 ounces chilled seltzer
In a rocks glass, combine the maple syrup with the orange juice, lemon juice, and bitters.
Add the orange wheel and lightly muddle.
Add the bourbon and wine and stir well.
Fill the glass with ice and top with the chilled seltzer.
This next wine cocktail is a little more late fall, with it's cranberries and cinnamon sticks, but we just couldn't leave it out of our tailgating list.
GINGER-ORANGE-CRANBERRY RED-WINE PUNCH
4 1/2 cups ginger beer
3 cups orange juice
4 cups cranberry-apple juice
6 ¼ cups red wine - BOXT Profile Six, malbec, zinfandel or merlot
5 teaspoons vanilla extract
Serve over ice or just cold from the refrigerated beverages and garnish with an orange slice, cinnamon stick and rosemary.
CHARDONNAY GINGER SPRITZER
4-5 oz. chilled Chardonnay
2-3 oz. chilled ginger beer (or ginger ale if you want it a little sweeter)
juice from half a lime
garnish with fresh or candied ginger
For each spritzer simply combine the ingredients over ice (except the ice pop one, no need) and enjoy in warm weather.
1.5 ounces tequila
.75 ounces triple sec
1 juice of lime
4 ounces Profile Nine
Splash sparkling water/soda water
1 Tablespoon sugar for making the sugar rim
1/4 c ice
Add ice, tequila triple sec, and juice of one lime to a cocktail shaker
Shake until chilled
Rub the rim of a glass with a lime wedge and dip in sugar
Pour cocktail shaker mixture carefully into glass and top with sparkling rosé
Add a lime slice garnish
These wine cocktails aren't limited to tailgating. Serve them at whatever your next gathering is, whether it's in your living room or in a parking lot.
