Easy Pie Recipes To Pair With Wine

Pi Day is the perfect excuse to indulge in some delicious homemade pies. Whether you're a math enthusiast celebrating the mathematical constant π or simply a pie lover looking for an excuse to bake, Pi Day offers a wonderful opportunity to whip up some delightful treats. To make your Pi Day celebration truly special, we’ve shared a super easy crust recipe + put together two mouthwatering pie recipes perfect for spring and summer. As an (obvious) added bonus - we've provided expert wine pairings to elevate your culinary experience.

Pie Crust Recipe

This is one of the easiest pie crusts in the world to make. It was handed down from Grandma and it’s the only pie crust she’s ever made.

  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ olive or coconut oil
  • ¼ cup water

Mix dry ingredients. Add the water and oil and mix with a fork. Roll out between two sheets of waxed paper.

You can also make this crust directly in the pie pan if that’s more your jam. Put the dry ingredients in the pie pan, mix. Add the water and oil and mix with your hands or a fork until combined. Using the palm of your hand and your fingers, work the dough out to cover the bottom, sides and rim. Crimp around the rim if you like.
